Alexandru Müller

Biography

Head of the Microwave Laboratory with IMT-Bucharest

Alexandru received the PhD degree in semiconductor physics from the University of Bucharest in 1990 and is habilitated for doctoral studies in electronic engineering, information technologies and telecommunications by “Politehnica” University of Bucharest.

He is the head of the Microwave Laboratory with IMT-Bucharest, Romania. In the recent years, his research activity was focused on SAW devices developed on III Nitrides, analysis of SAW propagation modes in GaN/Si layers, temperature and pressure sensors based on GaN/Si SAW devices, coupling of SAW waves with spin waves, cryogenic temperature measurements, in high magnetic field, of single electron transistors.

He is the author/co-author of more than 150 papers in high ranked journals and conferences proceedings. In 2003, he was invited “Directeur de recherché” at LAAS CNRS Toulouse, France.

He was involved in many European projects (in the frame of the research EU programs FP4, FP6, FP7 and H2020) as coordinator or as leader of the IMT team. Dr. Müller has coordinated one of the first European projects in RF MEMS “MEMSWAVE” (1998–2001), nominated in 2002 between the ten finalists for the Descartes Prize of the European Commission. He is currently involved, as leader of the IMT team, in two EU founded H2020 Future Emerging Technologies (FET) call projects, connected with spin wave computing, “Chiron” and “I-Qubits”.
