Chair and CEO at INRIA
Bruno Sportisse was graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts. He got a PhD in applied mathematics and a research habilitation in geophysics. After having created a joint laboratory EDF/Ecole des Ponts for air pollution modeling, he was director of innovation at Inria. In 2012, he became the innovation advisor to the French Minister for Higher Education and Research, and was then the deputy chief of staff to the French Minister of Innovation, SMEs and Digital Economy, to design the French Tech initiative. In 2014, he became the deputy CEO of a French midcap Medtech company, Thuasne, and created in 2016 an AI-driven Fintech company, Skopai. In July 2018, he was appointed by the President Emmanuel Macron as the Chairman and CEO of Inria, the French Institute for computer science. He is also chairman of the European node of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
