Biography

Professor of Physical Chemistry, co-founder and CEO of eChemicles

Csaba Janáky graduated as a chemist (2007) and economist (2009) at the University of Szeged, and obtained his PhD degree in 2011. He was a Marie Curie was a fellow at the UT Arlington (USA). He founded his research group at the University of Szeged in 2014, focusing on materials and energy orientated (photo)electrochemistry.

During recent years his focus has been on system level development and scale-up both for CO2 electrolysis and hydrogen generation. His team has developed different flow-cells to test different reactions and catalysts under industrially relevant conditions. In 2019, the H-Genie high-pressure won the R&D 100 Award, also called the "Innovation Oscar", while their multilayer CO2 electrolyser cell serves as the state-of-the-art. He has published over 120 papers, filed 20+ patents.

Csaba Janáky is the founding co-director of the National Laboratory for Renewable Energy in Hungary. He is co-Founder and President of eChemicles Inc, a start-up company scaling-up CO2 electrolysis.
