Cristina Balan is Co-Founder of CSR BootIQ, a Romanian consultancy specialised in sustainability services. She is also a EEN Sustainability Adviser & Mentor, and the Co-Chair of EEN Skills Expert Group (SEG). Moreover, Cristina is the ViceChair of GRI's Due Process Oversight Committee.
She has an engineering degree in environmental studies (the Faculty of Land Reclamation and Environmental Engineering of the Bucharest University of Agronomic Sciences), a MA degree in Marketing (Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies) and a post-graduate diploma in Journalism and Media Law (London School of Journalism). Prior to working as a sustainability consultant, Cristina has worked for the United Nations.
She is a licensed trainer, and a GRI Nominated Trainer for Europe. Also, she holds international certifications as ISO 20400 Lead Implementer, ISO 20121 Lead Implementer, and is a Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner.
Her areas of expertise include: sustainability reporting (Global Reporting Initiative, ESRS, SDGs), ISO 20400 (sustainable procurement), ISO 20121 (event sustainability management system), impact management, stakeholder engagement (AA1000 SES), and sustainability reporting assurance.
