José Romano

Investment Adviser to the EIC Fund, European Investment Bank

José currently focuses on supporting EIC selected equity investments. He previously led the European Investment Fund’s Investment Team for Greece during the tail-end of the Greek financial crisis, which led to EquiFund (€448m), the country’s first ever dedicate fund of funds. Before this, he headed the Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative (a €160m fund of funds) and its successor the Turkish Growth and Innovation Fund (€200m). Previously, José was at Deloitte, where he co-managed a €25m Challenge fund, Actis, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He started his career as a senior economist in Namibia's Ministry of Trade and Industry. José gained hands on startup experience during his two year engagement with TAZI.AI. He holds an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University, a First Class Honors degree in Economics from Queen Mary College and an MBA ("la Caixa" Scholar) from London Business School. Jose is an ODI Fellow, a Kauffman Fellow and an Alchemist alumnus.
