Block.IS – Catalysator of Europe’s Blockchain Innovation

Horizon 2020 INNOSUP funded project Block.IS has stepped out as a true catalyst of innovation, change and applicability of its solutions to the wide range of end-users.

Following the closing of Block.IS second open call, innovators, clusters and SMEs are going through various phases in order to develop and validate their products. The phases are divided into INNOVATE > EXPERIMENT > COMMERCIALISE.

The selection process in the Open Call 2 had resulted in 45 SMEs to create sound business plans that are presented to an Innovation Event/Clusters-Innovators Assembly during the INNOVATE phase. 

14 projects are selected from the Agrifood domain, 11 from the Logistics and 20 from FinTech. Participants are in the process of upscaling their products both technically and business-wise and preparing for the next round of the competition during which top 10 will be selected to continue to the next, COMMERCIALISE phase. 

From the Open call 1, 23 SMEs and start-ups that have made it into EXPERIMENT stage. Additionally, there is already a list of top 10 startups and SMEs. As they are coming to the end of the acceleration programme, it is now the mission of Block.IS to provide the final boost.

Block.IS is composed to engage innovators, SMEs and clusters through two Open Calls, delivering EUR 2.8 million for the SMEs participating in the acceleration programme. The direct funding provided by Block.IS to the SMEs is complemented by the business and technical services provided in the acceleration programme.
