European Innovation Council Fund: first equity investments for a total of €190 million under Horizon Europe

EIC Fund new investments

Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, announced today at the Slush start-up event in Helsinki that the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund has taken 35 investment decisions since the appointment of an external fund manager on 29 September 2022. Out of the 35 investment decisions, two have been already followed by investment agreements with the companies: Apix Analytics and Lattice Medical. The 35 decisions amount to a total equity investment of €190 million. A further 24 deals have been submitted to the investment approval process of the EIC Fund, with decisions expected in the coming weeks. This marks a significant step forward in the implementation of the investment component of the EIC Accelerator after the required restructuring of the Fund, and complements the rapid progress in providing the grant component. The EIC Fund is now fully operational and up to speed to support high-risk, deep-tech innovative start-ups to bring their innovative technologies to market and scale up.
