The first group of companies joins the EIC Scaling Club - a flagship initiative aiming to build next generation of deep tech unicorns made in Europe

EIC Scaling Club

Today at the EIC Summit, Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, announced the first cohort of 48 companies that joined the EIC Scaling Club gathering an exclusive community of deep tech champions and their partners.

Half of those companies is coming from the EIC portfolio, the other half from the rest of the European innovation ecosystem. Almost half of them is led by women. They are pioneers tackling big societal needs and addressing four new markets opportunities in deep technologies: digital security, next generation computing, mobility and transport, and renewable energy.

They will be surrounded by more than 400 other scale-up focused stakeholders to nurture connections and partnerships with lead investors, seasoned board members, advisors, corporates, relevant agencies, networks, and other strategic partners.

Next steps

Selected companies are now entering a 2-year acceleration programme including mentoring, branding as well as investment and partners roadshow events. The activities of this first cohort will be launched with a high-level gathering on 9 and 10 April in Brussels.

The Club will be reinforced after the launch of the 2nd cohort of companies, in autumn 2024.

Background information

The EIC Scaling Club is an exclusive community of more than 100 European high-growth deep tech champions and their partners. The Club engages companies in a pan-European network of scalers to share their peer experience and obtain exposure at the European level. It provides the participating companies with tailored mentoring and access to quality business partners such as corporates and investors.

The participating companies come from the portfolio of EIC awardees and other national and European innovation programmes. Companies are selected based on the transformative solution of their deep technologies in one of the market opportunities, such as sustainability (climate and energy), digital, health, and more, and their growth performance.
