Rita Groß-Hardt

Professor of Molecular Genetics at the University of Bremen, Germany

Rita Groß-Hardt

Rita Groß-Hardt is a Professor at the University of Bremen and an expert in plant reproduction. Her pioneering work has led to the discovery that plants can have three parents, which she further developed into a novel three-parent breeding strategy: 3PaTec shortens breeding cycles and bypasses a hybridization barrier of the seed, literally opening the door for the exploitation of climate-adapted wild varieties for a sustainable crop market of tomorrow. Her research has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant, an ERC Proof of Concept Grant and, in collaboration with two plant breeders, an EIC Transition Grant.
