Enric Claverol-Tinturé

Former EIC Programme Manager for medical technologies and medical devices (2020 – 2024), and is currently an independent advisor to technology startups. 

Enric’s career has focused on the development and commercialisation of innovative technologies specifically in the healthcare space. From his position as EIC Programme Manager he supported European innovators bringing medical technologies to patients and clinicians spanning a broad range of medical conditions and technological approaches. He was previously director general at the Catalonia Research and Innovation Foundation, the public-private organisation providing financial support and training to entrepreneurs, as well as promoting science-to-market entrepreneurial careers in Catalonia.

A bioengineer by training, Enric started his career as an academic, reaching the position of research group leader at the Catalonia Bioengineering Institute. His work revolved around brain-related challenges, developing platforms for animal-free drug discovery in neuroscience, intraoperative neuromonitoring to protect patients from accidental nerve damage and brain-neuron interfaces to better understand memory formation and brain disease. He co-founded two spin-offs, Aleria Biodevices and Afferent Technologies, leaving academia to focus on bringing new technologies to the clinic.

His current interests are science-to-market companies, startup growth and financing, and strategies for scale-up, with a focus on the healthcare space and always driven by patient´s needs.
