Biography
Head of Biotope Ventures
Annick Verween is Head of Biotope by VIB, supporting early-stage biotech founders to turn breakthrough technology into scalable solutions for planetary health. With a PhD in marine biology and experience translating science into scalable ventures, she bridges research, entrepreneurship and impact. Annick joined VIB, the leading life sciences research institute in Belgium, in 2021 to develop biotope where she has been pivotal in establishing it as a leading startup ecosystem, recognised by the Financial Times in 2025 & 2026, securing significant funding for startups and connecting them with top-tier investors and partners.
