Biography
Bart Becks is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and ecosystem builder committed to strengthening Europe’s innovation landscape. He leads Genisys AI Venture Studio, where he builds and scales companies in applied artificial intelligence. He also co-founded BeCentral—now one of Europe’s premier tech and digital-skills campuses—where he remains a director. In parallel, he is launching AI Polis, a new initiative focused on AI-enabled governance and the future of public systems.
Previously, as Executive Chairman of EURACTIV, Bart led its transformation into a major pan-European policy media network operating in 13 countries, ahead of its acquisition by Mediahuis. Beyond EURACTIV, he has provided strategic leadership to a range of innovative European media and information organisations, with past and current mandates including Science|Business, Lannoo & Meulenhoff Publishers, Régie Media Belge, and SBS Broadcasting Europe / ProSiebenSat.1.
He also serves on the boards of several corporates and scale-ups and is an active angel investor, notably through Syndicate One.
Earlier in his career, as CEO of Skynet (now part of Proximus), Bart helped grow the company into one of Belgium’s leading internet and digital media players.
He also chaired iMinds, which evolved into one of Europe’s leading technology research and venturing organisations (now part of imec).
