CHARM was one of the first EIC Transition Challenges projects to be funded by the EU, receiving funding from May 2022 to October 2025. The project developed the CORAL microscope, a label-free imaging system designed to capture morphological, molecular, and biochemical information without the need for traditional staining. Based on feedback from pathologists, biomedical researchers and clinical users, the imaging system integrates high-speed coherent Raman imaging with user-driven software features. The technology is now being developed further by Cambridge Raman Imaging.
