HEALANT (SHINTO)

HEALANT® is a Belgian deep-tech spin-off from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel focused on the development and commercialization of  a solid self-healing material platform.

HEALANT® is designed to autonomously heal punctures in tires without the use of liquids or external activation. HEALANT® initially targets the mobility sector, where punctures create safety risks, downtime, and waste. The company enters the market through bicycles as a first validation and commercialization platform, while the main scale opportunity lies in automotive tires. The technology is protected by multiple international patent families and has been validated for industrial scalability with leading manufacturing partners. 

Beyond tires, the HEALANT® chemistry forms a broader materials platform that can be adapted for other applications requiring autonomous damage repair and high durability. HEALANT® combines deep materials science expertise with strong industrial and go-to-market experience to bring next-generation self-healing materials to market.
