Biography

EIC Programme Manager for Future-proof electronics, covering AI-driven sustainability across semiconductor design, materials and lifecycle

Michael J. Bojdys is the EIC Programme Manager for Sustainable Electronics, covering AI- and data-driven sustainability across device design, materials and lifecycle. He holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces and spent fifteen years as a principal investigator in the United Kingdom, Czechia and Germany, most recently as Guest Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and previously as Reader in Chemistry at King’s College London. He co-founded a battery materials spin-out, and directed industry-led, international multi-stakeholder partnerships accelerating R&D cycles in energy materials and the blockchain-enabled valorisation of research data.

Bojdys' expertise spans semiconductor and electronic materials, two-dimensional materials, critical raw materials, energy storage and international standardisation.

He translated two university patents into a rare-earth-free battery venture now run by its founders, brought formulation robotics into materials discovery well before self-driving laboratories entered common practice, and co-authored an ISO standard on rare earths.
