By leveraging the structural and material efficiency of double-curved geometries and lightweight 3D knitted textile formworks, the project seeks to create sustainable, cost-effective, and reliable structural solutions.
By incorporating fabrication constraints, considering material-efficient structures, and accurately predicting material behaviour, the project will enable the creation of optimised structural designs that can be efficiently fabricated using knitted textile formworks.
Vision & ImpactFlexiForm revolutionises construction by reducing material usage and carbon emissions through innovative double-curved concrete structures and 3D knitted textile formworks. Their streamlined computational workflows optimise designs with minimal need for specialised knowledge, making sustainable construction practices accessible industry-wide.
CollaborationFlexiForm is part of the EIC Pathfinder AEC Challenge (DigiTrio). With support from the EIC, the team has made significant progress in developing their technology and exploring industry implementation. It has also helped setting the foundations for a spin-off.
What's next ?FlexiForm's "Necto" installation at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale demonstrates their computational pipelines for 3D knitted textile fabrication, developed with industry partners. Moving forward, they'll expand stakeholder collaborations to create joint demonstrators and develop a market-ready solution through a start-up venture.

FlexiForm is an EIC Pathfinder-supported project aiming to reduce material usage and embodied carbon in construction by developing sustainable and cost-effective solutions using 3D-knitted textile formworks. EIC Programme Manager Franc Mouwen has shown outstanding dedication to advancing digitalisation in the construction sector and has deeply engaged with both the topic and the wider community.
What we particularly appreciate is his proactive networking, which has connected us with valuable industry partners and researchers. This has opened up opportunities for feedback, collaboration, and market implementation. His genuine commitment to fostering collaboration within the EIC community truly stands out — especially in bringing together EIC Pathfinder portfolio projects, constantly seeking to create meaningful synergies between teams and identifying where members could benefit from external input. Thanks to his guidance, the path to entrepreneurship now feels more accessible than we initially thought possible.
