The European IP Helpdesk supports European SMEs and research teams involved in cross-border business and/or EU-funded research activities manage, disseminate and valorise their IP. Offering a broad range of informative material, a Helpline service for direct IP support as well as on-site and online training, our main goal is to support IP capacity building along the full scale of IP practices: from awareness to strategic use and successful exploitation.

  • International IP SME Helpdesks

In today’s knowledge-driven economies, intellectual property (IP) has become a central business asset and driver of innovation, creativity and growth.

The IP Helpdesk provides free-of-charge, first-line support to European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on IP management, protection and enforcement. Consisting of six dedicated regional Helpdesk services covering China, Europe, Latin America, India, South-East Asia and Africa, the IP Helpdesk caters to the individual needs of businesses operating in those markets. In addition, the regional Helpdesk for Europe specifically assists EU SMEs and researchers in dealing with IP issues in the context of EU-funded research and innovation projects.

Offering a broad range of informative material, a Helpline service as well as a diverse training calendar, the IP Helpdesk's overall goal is to support IP capacity building along the full scale of IP practices: from awareness to strategic use and successful exploitation.

European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is the EU agency responsible for the registration of EU trade marks and designs valid in the entire EU territory. The EUIPO provides various support services such as EU funding of IP costs for SMEs (SME Fund), free IP advice in EU languages, IP Scan service helping to identify intellectual property assets and learn how to incorporate intellectual property strategy into a business plan, as well as training opportunities and access to free online databases (TMview, TMclass, DesignView, etc.). European Patent Office (EPO)

With 6 300 staff members, the European Patent Office (EPO) is one of the largest public service institutions in Europe. Headquartered in Munich with offices in Berlin, Brussels, The Hague and Vienna, the EPO was founded with the aim of strengthening co-operation on patents in Europe. Through the EPO's centralised patent granting procedure, inventors are able to obtain high-quality patent protection in up to 45 countries, covering a market of some 700 million people. The EPO is also the world's leading authority in patent information and patent searching.
