Mini SPIKA: A Regenerative Building Core Hosting the Mi Hy Ecosystem
Mini-SPIKA is a scaled‑down descendant of SPIKA, originally featured in the 2025 Milan Triennale's 'We the Bacteria' exhibition. This life‑centred architectural prototype, with its bacteriophage‑inspired form, shields a prosthetic rhizosphere for the Microbial Hydroponics (Mi‑Hy) prototype, an EIC Pathfinder project that turns household wastewater into power and biofertiliser. The structure's life‑bearing outer surface supports ecological succession through a range of sustainable, bioreceptive materials, including wood, concrete, recycled construction and demolition waste, and brine‑infused polymers.
