The RAW project develops a new resource model for the AEC sector by rethinking how buildings are designed and fabricated in relation to material resources. It enables systematic use of waste sourced and fast growing bio based materials—despite their variability—by integrating material characterisation, computational design, structural analysis, and adaptive fabrication in a unified framework. RAW addresses the industry’s reliance on uniform materials and linear value chains, which hinders the adoption of natural and reclaimed resources. A consortium of leading researchers and entrepreneurs will advance resource aware design methods that treat material variability as a driver. The project aims to reduce waste, support circular flows, increase carbon storage, and unlock new bio based material classes and architectural potentials.
