Biography
Associate Professor at the Institute of Paper, Pulp and Fiber Technology at Graz University of Technology.
Stefan Spirk is an Associate Professor at Graz University of Technology, Austria. His expertise centers on biobased materials, particularly lignocellulosic resources, and their integration into advanced technologies, with a strong focus on sustainable energy storage solutions. Since 2018, he has actively driven the translation of research into innovation, contributing to technology transfer and commercialization efforts. His work has resulted in eight patents, several of which originate from EIC-funded projects.
In 2022, he cofounded Ecolyte, where he currently serves as CEO, advancing the market deployment of biobased, sustainable large-scale batteries and associated cost-effective, PFAS-free membrane technologies.
