Svetoslava Georgieva

Biography

Svetoslava has a broad range of experience in finance, both in the public and the private sector.

She is one of the four permanent members of the Investment Committee of InvestEU, the European Commission’s programme that aims to mobilise more than €372 billion in investments in Europe by 2027. She was the representative of the Bulgarian government in the Contributors’ Committee of the Pan-European Guarantee Fund (EGF) managed by the EIB Group and established in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic to support EU-based companies affected by the crisis. She was the executive director and member of the management board of the Fund of Funds in Bulgaria, which manages a portfolio of c. EUR 600 million of debt and equity mandates financed by the European structural funds. During this time she was responsible for the establishment, fund manager selection and oversight of five VC funds, three debt funds and two risk-sharing mandates in the area of infrastructure and micro finance.

Prior to that, she gained international experience in finance and in the European institutions. She worked in investment banking and equity investments in London, and in the European Commission in Brussels, in EU economic surveillance and state aid, on key reforms in the banking sector in Greece, Italy, Slovenia and Bulgaria. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and East European studies from University College London (UCL) and a master’s degree from ESCP Business School in London and Paris.
