Biography

EIC Programme Manager for health and biotechnology

Iordanis Arzimanoglou has a thirty-year postdoctoral international career. From June 2020 to May 2024, he has been the Programme Manager for Health and Biotechnology at the EIC, where he was responsible for developing visions for technological and innovation breakthroughs. Iordanis has previously worked as an EIC Coach & Senior advisor to genomic/genetic SMEs. Iordanis was the Chief Executive Officer of the Thessaloniki Innovation Zone managing company, and prior to that, Chief Executive Officer of the Aarhus Biotech Cluster Company (BMF) and was Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedicine Aarhus University.

Earlier in his career, he was the Assistant Professor of Molecular Genetics at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, New York and prior to that, he was Chief of Cancer Genetics Research Program at Lennox Hill Hospital, New York. Before joining Lenox Hill, he was a research scientist in the Division of Medical Genetics at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Iordanis holds a PhD from the University of Athens, Greece in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry, a Boston University Graduate Certificate in international business management and performed his postdoctoral work in the Department of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, New York.

    EV-based EIC Cluster Meeting
    • Co-organised the meeting involving EIC Extracellular Vesicle (EV)-based projects and companies and prominent members of the European EV-based biotech community

    • Moderated the workshop on “Health biotech-overcoming barriers in regulation, the case of precision oncology” with speakers from EMA and EIC Accelerator.

    EPO webinar with over 3500 recorded viewers from 65 countries
    • Speaker at the EPO’s webinar on “Combatting cancer: how innovation actors are changing the landscape”, presenting the 2023 EIC Accelerator challenge-based call “Novel biomarker-based assays to guide personalised cancer treatment”. More information here and here.

  5. 17 January 2024
    Annual Meeting of the EIC Pathfinder Portfolio "Engineered Living Materials"
    • Co-organised the Annual Meeting of the Engineered Living Materials portfolio, held on 17 January 2024 in Brussels.
    • The hybrid event was attended by over 60 participants and showcased frontier synthetic biology-based projects with high potential and far-reaching impact on the European Synthetic Biology ecosystem.
